21 Hikes

The world feels a little chaotic right now, and I’ve found myself obsessing more and more over the constant news cycle. The short story is that I needed to find something else to think about and focus my time on. Hiking has always been my happy place, so starting a hiking project seemed as good an idea as any.

​Over the last few decades, my wife and I have hiked a good portion of Shenandoah National Park, but we’ve gradually drifted toward more secluded trails in the area. With this project, our goal is to hike the sections we’ve never explored before, in the hopes of deepening our appreciation for the mountains we’ve come to love so much.

​The criteria for the remaining hikes are simple: 1) we haven’t hiked the 'full' trail before, 2) the distance is under 10 miles, and 3) dogs are allowed, because, let’s face it, our dog loves hiking even more than we do.​​

​I have absolutely no idea how long it will take to complete this and that isn't really the point.  Just getting started here in October of 2025 and will likely focus on favorite trails during the fall hiking season, but we won't forget.  I'll post updates here as they happen.
